Cannabis Testing Claims: What to Check on a Product Listing
A careful guide to matching batch identifiers, reading the document's scope, and recognizing what a catalogue cannot verify.
Match the product and batch identifiers
If a test report is provided, compare the product name and lot or batch identifier with the original package. A similar product name or brand design alone does not establish that a report applies to the item in hand.
Check the date and the stated scope as well. If identifiers are missing, cropped or different, treat the document as not matched rather than assuming it describes the package.
Read what the document actually covers
Different documents can address different questions. A result about one compound or characteristic does not establish every other aspect of the product. A short marketing summary may omit the date, method, scope or other context.
A generic phrase such as tested or lab-tested is not a substitute for a specific, authentic, batch-matched document. This catalogue has not independently authenticated any report, laboratory or chain-of-custody record.
Keep the label in context
Product name, package volume, strain descriptor and test document provide different kinds of information. None should be treated as a medical recommendation or a guarantee that a product is risk-free.
